Can the IRS make a spouse of the deceased pay their tax debt?

Was a joint return filed the year (or years) the tax debt was incurred?
If so, then, Yes they can.

The deceased’s estate is responsible, and will pay debt before any heir gets any “willed” assets. I don’t think a shared primary home is included in this. . .
