During the economic collapse of Argentina, A family could buy groceries for 10 days for a 1 ounce silver round. In Zimbabwe gold and silver still have value. In Wiemar republic germany (during their hyperinflationary economic collapse) those with precious metals did quite well. Even those who had normal coins did well when they were revalued.
Historically during economic collapse, no matter where or when, metals still had value. That’s why I put a few thousand into them, just in case.

Actually, our church saves about $30,000 a year. It’s a small church, but in a very rich community. I just happen to feel called to tithe to a few very needy families i know. . . buying groceries, kitchen supplies, clothing, etc. I don’t believe that “church” is a building. . . i believe it’s the body of christ. i think that’s what it’s supposed to mean. Imagine if everybody gave 10% of their income to a hurting family, there would never be any poor christians!

I stopped going and giving to a church when the pastor asked the congregation to give extra, so that the could reupholster the pew benches, which would only be a mere 20 thousand.
